What a recent client said

"We'd been comparing three consultancies for months. Clear Vision was the only one that showed us how each option would play out financially before we signed anything."

Ronan Keaveney, managing director of a Galway-based logistics firm with 84 employees. Engagement ran from January to April 2025.

Business Consulting built around comparison, not persuasion

Most consultancies pitch a single solution. We lay every viable path on the table, model the numbers, and let you choose. That changes the relationship from the first meeting.

How the three main consulting approaches compare

We often get asked why our method differs from traditional advisory or big-firm consulting. Here is a plain comparison so you can judge for yourself.

Dimension Traditional advisory Big-firm consulting Clear Vision comparison-led
Initial diagnostic Informal chat, proposal in 48 hours Multi-week scoping, large team Structured 3-day diagnostic with financial model
Options presented One recommended path One recommended path with alternatives buried in appendix 2–4 fully modelled scenarios, side by side
Pricing model Day rate, scope creep common Fixed fee, change orders frequent Milestone pricing tied to deliverables
Client decision power Medium — you follow the advisor's instinct Low — you follow the methodology High — you choose the scenario, we execute it
Handover PDF report, maybe a call Slide deck, transition plan Working playbook your team can run without us
Post-engagement support Retainer upsell 90-day check-in included at no extra cost
Typical engagement length Ongoing, open-ended 6–18 months 8–16 weeks, hard end date
Best for Solo founders needing a sounding board Enterprises with compliance or regulatory needs SMEs making a specific strategic decision

Outcomes from recent comparison-led engagements

Manufacturing cost restructure

A Cork-based food manufacturer needed to decide between relocating production, outsourcing, or investing in automation. We modelled all three over a 5-year horizon. They chose a hybrid of options two and three.

Market entry for a SaaS company

A Dublin fintech was weighing UK expansion against a DACH-region push. Our comparison framework showed the DACH route would break even nine months sooner despite higher upfront cost. They launched in Frankfurt in March 2025.

Succession planning

A family-owned Connacht retailer compared internal succession with a trade sale and a management buyout. The founder chose the MBO after seeing the tax implications side by side.

Operational review for a hospitality group

Five hotels across the west of Ireland. We compared centralised procurement against a regional co-op model. The co-op won on flexibility; centralised won on cost. They went centralised for food, co-op for linen.

Is comparison-led consulting right for you?

Not every situation calls for our approach. Here is an honest fit check.

Strong fit

You face a fork-in-the-road decision

Expand or consolidate. Build or buy. Hire or outsource. When the stakes are high and the options are genuinely different, comparison modelling earns its keep.

Moderate fit

You want a second opinion on a plan already in motion

We can stress-test your current strategy against one or two alternatives. This is a shorter engagement, usually four to six weeks, and it works well as a board-readiness exercise.

Not our strength

You need ongoing fractional leadership

If you want a part-time CFO or COO embedded in your team for a year, we are not the right partner. We focus on defined decisions with clear end dates. We can recommend firms that do fractional work well.

How a typical engagement unfolds

  1. We spend three days inside your business: interviewing stakeholders, reading financials, mapping dependencies. No questionnaire. No pre-formatted audit template.
  2. From that diagnostic we identify two to four realistic options. Each one gets a financial model, a risk register, and a timeline. We do not pad the list with straw-man options to make one look better.
  3. We present all scenarios in a single working session with your leadership team. Questions are encouraged. We adjust models live if assumptions change during the conversation.
  4. You choose. We then build a 90-day execution playbook for the chosen path, including milestones, owners, and early-warning indicators.
  5. Ninety days after handover we come back for a half-day review. No charge. If the chosen path is off-track, we help course-correct on the spot.

Why we work this way

The consulting industry has a bias problem. When a firm earns more from a longer engagement, it has little incentive to recommend the simplest solution. When a firm specialises in one methodology, every problem starts to look like a nail for that hammer.

We built Clear Vision around a different incentive structure. Our fees are tied to deliverables, not hours. We get paid the same whether you pick the ambitious growth scenario or the conservative one. That removes the temptation to steer.

Clients tell us this changes the dynamic in the room. When they know we are not selling a particular outcome, the conversation becomes more honest. Questions get sharper. Assumptions get challenged earlier. The final decision tends to stick because the leadership team owns it fully.
